HAPPY MONDAY! - BLACK SQUIRREL RADIO

HAPPY MONDAY!

Hello! Hope you’re enjoying your Monday.  I’ll admit I’m a bit tired after spending last night catching up on all the work I didn’t do this weekend.  It was worth it though— I got to check out the NFG ten year anniversary tour twice!  The weather wasn’t very conducive to my roadtrip adventures, but I got to see some of my favorite bands.  Fireworks was so much fun, their sets have so much energy and I’m totally digging their record lately.  My roommate/cohost Amber got it on vinyl…AMAZING! Hellogoodbye sounds better than ever on this tour, and it seems now that their battle with Drive-Thru has ended, we actually have a chance to hear the new record soon! Even if you thought you hated Hellogoodbye in like 2005, you need to check out the new music they’ve been working on.  “Finding Something to Do” is totally my jam, and you can have that song and a few others for free if you download their Daytrotter Session on daytrotter.com.  Lovely! And of course I loved seeing NFG play their entire self-titled record AND seeing my favorite band of all time, Saves the Day, play an epic mix of new and old jams.  They basically have an entirely new lineup (except for Chris Conley of course), and I have to say those new guys are good! So stoked for Daybreak, their new record, to come out. (PS this tour will be in Cleveland tomorrow so you should go!!) So that’s my shameless promotion of all of my favorites for the week. :)

Now, onto some more recommendations from the BSR staff!  Todd, our Events Coordinator, told me about Beach House and I totally want to check them out.  He said in particular to listen to the tracks “Take Care” or “Silver Soul.”  Todd said they’re perfect walking to class in the snow kind of songs, and I could definitely use those right about now.  Here, I even youtubed it for you!  CLICK ME!

I hope you have a great week filled with great music!  Tune in to some of our great programming on blacksquirrelradio.com and let us know what you’re digging this week by sending us an @reply on twitter to @bsrkent.
