The new Atlas Sound album “Logos” rocks my socks

Hi Guys!
Gabz Ciofani here, General Manager of the station and I know that if I didn’t begin this post by telling you how wicked the new Atlas Sound album was, both our Mobile DJ Director (Ledion Isufaj) and our Events Coordinator (Todd Williams) would never speak to me again. Plus- I know it’s all of our responsibility here at BSR to encourage the spread of new music. That being said, I hum the track “Walkabout” (featuring Panda Bear from Animal Collective) as I stroll along to classes and it makes me feel like I’m on top of the world. Okay, so I did my part. Now it’s your turn.

I am continuously impressed with the on-air content here at Black Squirrel Radio. How cool is it to be a part of such a large collaboration of new music? So cool that some days I think I’m dreaming. But then I remind myself I’m awake and continue listening to amazing music. Like the Monsters of Folk album that hasn’t been removed from my laptop for weeks. (Thanks to Brandon, our music director, for uploading some tracks from that into our database!)

We have taken tremendous strides this semester at the station. Those of you may know that our marketing director Ellen Kirtner brought the band “Empires” in a while back to perform a live, in-studio set, but some of you may not know that they put footage and promotion from their performance in Black Squirrel Radio in their music video for a song. It’s amazing to think of the possibilities we have here at the station. And it all begins by simply asking someone to come in and play a set on your show.

I want to encourage all of you to use this space as a place to further infect the masses with great music and the cool opportunities at Black Squirrel Radio. As soon as we have the date of our “bi-annual” Vinyl Listening Party, that will be posted on here (as well as updates for ticket giveaways and all that jazz).

So now it’s your turn, write up a little post describing what songs/albums you’ve been unable to get out of your head and I’m sure that more than just myself will check them out. And remember to keep up the good work and to keep listening to Black Squirrel Radio.

Music is contagious. Keep the spread alive.

Love always,
your friend,
gabz
